As co-commentator, pimples expert Sebastian Sauer will be a guest at the table tennis Bundesliga match between the TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau and the TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt on 23 February 2021. Even if there is no pimples player it will be an entertaining game!
Restart: Back to the table tennis table?
Dear pimples community,
surely many of you are eagerly waiting to finally be allowed to go back to the sports hall and take the table tennis racket in your hands. Others, on the other hand, wish that the social distance should last for quite a long time. Opinions differ widely in society and also among table tennis players.
What do we ourselves think about this?
Very simple. We have studied the situation extensively, but we simply don’t know enough to be able to judge it conclusively. If even experts disagree: how should we be able to judge this in all its facets?
With regard to our beloved sport, table tennis, we believe that it can be played in an absolutely responsible manner, while respecting the rules of hygiene. Here you can see a real spirit of optimism. Many halls are now open again or are about to open. The DTTB has developed the following hygiene concept:
Do the DTTB measures make sense and will they work in practice?
Soon nothing should stand in the way of a modified training operation in the club. Fortunately, Germany is ahead of many other countries in terms of opening up this possibility.
Our urgent advice (no matter if you just want to get some feeling, if you want to train concentrated or if you want to test material): more than ever, make sure to warm up a little and start slowly. If the first topspin is played with maximum power when you start training after a month-long break, then the strain is not far away! We speak from experience…
Regardless of the official permission, I proactively cancelled all pimpled courses for the month of June as well, although they were mostly fully booked. I received a lot of feedback from players who would have loved to come to the courses. Nevertheless, I considered this decision reasonable in the current environment. I just wouldn’t have felt comfortable with a pimpled course yet. Furthermore, it would have been questionable whether the course would have been possible at all under the imposed conditions and whether it would have been really fun.
We’d rather wait a little longer and then welcome you another time with even greater anticipation. Of course, any advance payments will be refunded immediately and without complications. If you have any questions in this regard, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A small side blow: On the customer side I have to run very hard at the moment with many providers of unusual events or I don’t even get a feedback despite several requests. This has a certain smack for me. When someone explains to me that their own situation is problematic, I fully understand. However, I currently experience in several places that there is simply no reaction for weeks.
In general, we should try not to look only negatively into the future. For responsible persons in associations there is in my eyes even a long time not existing chance to win members especially in the leisure time area. Table tennis is booming. Whether in the apartment, in the garden or on the stone slab in the park. Outdoor tables are partly sold out for weeks. If we present ourselves well here and offer something suitable, we can even manage to win many new members.
There will definitely, maybe even very soon, come better times again. The next hours (as of Saturday noon) I’m now killing myself with a few bad jokes about the DFL and about Mario Basler and with the premiere of the elbow jubilation in the Bundesliga.
Take care and see you soon!
P.S. Are you burning to get back to the table tennis table again? And do you think the hygiene concept makes sense? We are looking forward to your opinion in the comments!
Kind regards from the Sauer & Tröger Team
