Table tennis meets racing: Sauer & Tröger at the Hockenheimring with Winward Racing

Dear Sauer & Tröger family,

As pimple players and Sauer & Tröger followers, you are already used to the fact that we always do things a little differently than all the other table tennis brands. We stand out, try to be cooler, come up with innovative marketing campaigns and always provide one or two eye-catchers.

This weekend at the Hockenheimring was no exception, where we got to know the meaning of “rubber” in a completely different way. This time not in the form of a nub on a table tennis racket, but in the form of slicks on the Mercedes AMG GT3 from Winward Racing.

It was precisely on this car that we were represented with our logo in the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS racing series. This was made possible by the former Ferrari World and European Champion Jens Liebhauser, who not only drives for Winward Racing, but also participates in the table tennis team competition at the TTC Oberacker in Baden-Württemberg with pimpled rubbers from Sauer & Tröger.

The team was completed by the only 19-year-old Lorenzo Ferrari and the Mercedes works driver, Lucas Auer, who also competes in the DTM. A weekend full of action ended with a 5th place in the Gold Class. The Sauer & Tröger logo was also literally glowing after the race.

During the race we also discovered some similarities between racing and table tennis:

It comes down to fitness, reaction speed and sensitivity
It is a very fast sport where you have to make a decision in a split second.
As in table tennis, the condition of the rubber plays a very special role

It’s better not to drive or play the ball out of bounds 😉
For us it was in any case a great experience to experience “table tennis meets racing” live from the paddock and to get deep insights into racing. We wish Team Winward all the best for the last races of the season in Valencia and Barcelona!

Have you ever been up close and personal at a car race? Let us know in the comments! We have collected a few more pictures for you to take you behind the scenes.

Apart from that, we wish you a great start to the season!

Your Sauer & Tröger Team.
